Our client is a ~50-person independent software company that develops and maintains their own ERP/ITSM platform and a compute/automation platform for large-scale device management. They are looking for a Senior Java Developer with genuine passion for their tech stack - someone who enjoys going deep, staying close to end users, and taking full end-to-end ownership of their products.

Key Responsibilities

• Work largely independently on clearly scoped technical projects including APIs, protocols, infrastructure integrations, and internal tooling
• Develop Java solutions beyond standard Spring Boot and Hibernate - including secure tooling, IoT solutions with MQTT and gRPC, and network-level protocols with Netty
• Maintain and contribute to an htmx-based web frontend built primarily in Java
• Take active responsibility for reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability - including monitoring, tracing, error handling, concurrency, and network impact

Required Skills and Experience

• At least 6 years of recent hands-on Java experience, with a track record that goes beyond standard Spring Boot and Hibernate setups
• Solid knowledge of general computing and *nix systems (Linux, FreeBSD, etc.) - comfortable in a terminal, able to build software from source and troubleshoot low-level issues
• Ability to design software that is maintainable, predictable, scalable, and secure - not just functional
• Familiarity with tools and technologies such as Java 21/25, Netty, JOOQ, gRPC-Java, Micrometer, Dagger, PostgreSQL, MQTT, Grafana, Prometheus, Envoy, and containerized infrastructure
• HBO or university degree in a relevant field
