Our client is looking for a Senior Backend & Cloud Engineer to join their team on a part-time basis (3 days per week), with one day per week in their Nairobi office. This role is open to candidates based in Kenya only. You will work on modernising a legacy backend, designing event-driven cloud architecture, and supporting data infrastructure - making a real technical impact in a lean, collaborative environment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on senior engineer who combines strong C# and cloud skills with a pragmatic approach to architecture and clean code.

Key Responsibilities

• Gradually migrate legacy C# logic into a modern, event-driven setup
• Design and implement serverless or event-based logic for background tasks and data flows
• Support the Technical Architect in expanding and maintaining Bicep-based cloud infrastructure
• Build and maintain CMS extensions using TypeScript and Directus
• Automate data pipelines to sync transactional data into a centralised data warehouse (e.g. BigQuery)

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong C# and ASP.NET Core skills, with demonstrated ability to refactor and sunset legacy CRUD logic
• Practical understanding of event-driven and serverless architecture (e.g. Azure Functions, Event Grid, Service Bus)
• Proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js for backend logic and CMS extensions
• Experience with headless CMS platforms, preferably Directus
• Based in Kenya - this is a firm requirement for this role
